biography
Mavis Freeman Essel is a first-year doctoral student who focuses on researching communication around maternal and adolescent health on social media platforms.
Her research explores the potential of using social media platforms and health campaigns to enhance the dissemination of health information and services to mothers and young people. She seeks to determine successful strategies for communication that result in enhanced health literacy and habits. In her PhD research, Mavis aims to discover innovative methods to improve access to reliable maternal and child health information via social media and empower young people to make well-informed health choices.
