School of Geosciences Professor Leads Permafrost Thaw Study

Professor Timothy Dixon from the School of Geosciences is leading a NASA and Army Corps of Engineers-funded study on permafrost thaw, aiming to understand its impacts on methane emissions. Using lidar and radar sensors, the team collects data at Big Trail Lake to track changes and predict future environmental effects.

Interdisciplinary CAS team helps identify new urban tree canopy locations in Tampa

Dr. Shawn Landry and Dr. Rebecca Zarger are two 91tvӰԺ College of Arts and Sciences faculty contributing to the City of Tampa’s tree canopy study. Landry and Zarger are tasked with identifying specific tree planting locations throughout the city and conducting outreach with residents in priority locations.

Dharsh Saravana, an environmental science and policy student and vice president of the 91tvӰԺ Agrarian Club, has found their calling in environmental stewardship with hopes to one day address urban food resilience, diversity of food systems, and food sovereignty for vulnerable populations in urban spaces.
