Gregory P. Perreault (Ph.D., University of Missouri) is associate professor of media literacy & analytics at the Zimmerman School for Advertising & Mass Communications. His research focus is adaptation within the journalism field. His book Digital Journalism and the Facilitation of Hate (Routledge) was published in 2023.
Dr. Perreault serves as Chair of the Standing Committee of Research for the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) and also as Reviews Editor for Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly. He also serves on the editorial board for Digital Journalism and is co-editor on the special issue “Epistemologies of Digital News Production.” He served as Fulbright-Botstiber Professor of Austrian-American Studies at the University of Vienna Journalism Studies Center (2020-2021).
Prior to entering academia, Dr. Perreault worked primarily as a lifestyle journalist covering sports, gaming, religion, and local culture. His work has been published in Kill Screen Magazine, USA Today, The Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald and The Palm Beach Post.
An avid runner, he most recently ran the 39.3 Asheville Marathon and a Half in Asheville, North Carolina.
