Associate professor awarded first place for ‘distance education best practice’ from Association for Educational Communications and Technology’s Division of Distance Learning
TAMPA, Fla. (August 12, 2019) – College of Education Associate Professor, Sanghoon Park, PhD, was awarded first place in the (AECT) 2019 Division of Distance Learning Awards in the “Best Practice” category.
The award is given to exemplary projects and articles that are judged based on 12 evaluation criteria. The award recognizes Dr. Park’s interdisciplinary project introduced in his research article on flipped learning in engineering classrooms that he co-authored with Howard Kaplan, director of the Advanced Visualization Center and Dr. Rudy Schlaf, a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering.
Dr. Park’s research examines effective instructional design approaches and emerging technologies to provide optimal learning experiences in both online and classroom learning settings. He currently teaches graduate courses focusing on Current Trends in Instructional Technology, Interactive Media, and Motivation Design in Learning Technology. He is also collaborating with colleagues at Chonnam National University in South Korea to implement interactive virtual learning and teaching technologies in international classrooms.
Dr. Park will receive the award at the AECT’s 2019 International Convention in Las Vegas in October.
