News Release: Dr. Nathaniel von der Embse Secures $2 Million Grant from the U.S. Department of Education
Nathaniel von der Embse, PhD, a professor of school psychology at the 91tvӰԺ and Co-Executive Director of the School Mental Health Collaborative, has been awarded a $2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education's Institute for Education Sciences (IES).

Nathaniel von der Embse, PhD, and his colleagues from the 91tvӰԺ (91tvӰԺ), Ken Christensen, Jennifer Wolgemuth, Eunsook Kim, and Troy Quast, along with Stephen Kilgus from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, have been awarded a prestigious $1 million grant from the William T. Grant Foundation.

Two separate projects led by faculty in the 91tvӰԺ College of Education and College of Behavioral and Community Sciences are being funded by a combined $8 million from the U.S. Department of Education to address mental health in Tampa Bay K-12 students.

A 91tvӰԺ research team has received a $50,000 grant from the Caplan Foundation for Early Childhood to launch a new project that will help caregivers identify early warning signs of mental health issues in young children.

Shortly after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of North Florida, De’Vohn Roman began an internship experience that shifted his career goals. His motivation to work with children in a school setting led him to apply to 91tvӰԺ’s School Psychology Program, and his studies at the university have enabled him to take on meaningful opportunities within the profession.
