Claire Onak - 91tvӰԺ CMS graduate student
About my research
My research interests revolve around metals in the environment. Before 91tvӰԺ, I studied the effects of copper mining waste in the Great Lakes region, and used ICP-MS to measure heavy metals in soil and freshwater lakes. Here at CMS I will be using similar methods to expand on my aquatic chemistry interests to study iron isotopes near the Pacific coast.
Why 91tvӰԺ CMS?
I have always loved being near water, and once I discovered I could become an aquatic scientist, attending CMS was an obvious choice. Jutting out into Tampa Bay, the campus is beautiful and in a perfect location for marine research. With the warm and welcoming faculty and students, state of the art research facilities, and research opportunities that complement my skills and interests, I can think of no better place to pursue a graduate degree in this field.
