We want to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude for the dedication that the mentors, graduate students, program coordinators, and 91tvӰԺ personnel provided during the 2024 Making Waves REU (MWREU) program. Your commitment was instrumental in providing a rewarding experience for all participants. The feedback from the end-of-program surveys was overwhelmingly positive, with all eleven participants sharing that the program exceeded their expectations and that their research activities were meaningful. The symposium showcased their scientific projects, and it was clear that their success was rooted in the outstanding mentorship they received. The poster presentations were so exceptional that the judges found it incredibly difficult to choose the winners. After nearly an hour of deliberation, the following participants were recognized for their work:

1st Place – Xiomara Cruz
2nd Place – Noya Hudkins
3rd Place – Xavier Willis
Best Presenter – Saneru Williams
Honorable Mention – Zayna Sampson

Additionally, we are thrilled to highlight the MWREU participant-led video podcast. This project was entirely designed, written, produced, and edited by the participants, showcasing their creativity and teamwork. From handmade lighted set signs by Julieka Vega to original music composed by Ian Kahn, each participant contributed their unique talents. Be sure to check out the credits and watch the MWREU24 podcast below. Thank you once again, and for your contributions to the success of the inaugural Making Waves REU program!
