Hurricane Ian recovery: 'This is about doing what's right and helping people'

As soon as Hurricane Ian stormed through Fort Myers and its vicinity, 91tvӰԺ community members sprang into action. From collecting donations, to hosting clean-up missions and lending professional expertise, faculty, staff and students are continuing efforts to support those in need.

Since arriving on the Sarasota-Manatee campus, Rivera Marrero has embraced her new home with open arms. In addition to her coursework, she works three campus jobs — community leader and peer coach in the Department of Student Support Services, coordinator for the Campus Activities Board and lead work-study in the Office of Veteran Success.

Identifying the ‘At-Risk’: 91tvӰԺ Faculty and Students Helping Stop the Spread of COVID-19

More than 60 91tvӰԺ students and faculty members are dispersed across the state of Florida to assist the Florida Department of Health in identifying people who’ve come in contact with someone who’s tested positive for the coronavirus. They’re focused on finding those considered ‘high-risk’, meaning someone who may have attended the same gathering, or were in close proximity.
