The milestone comes during 91tvӰԺ’s first full fiscal year as a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities and helps demonstrate its impact as one of the nation’s most research-intensive institutions. The new record brings the university closer to reaching its goal of securing $1 billion in annual research funding.

With railroad employment steadily declining nationwide, 91tvӰԺ researchers are working to stabilize the industry – funded by a $17 million grant from the Federal Railroad Administration, the agency’s first grant ever to be awarded to 91tvӰԺ.

NASA’s permanent presence on the moon could begin with 91tvӰԺ-invented mapping technology
As NASA continues exploring the moon’s southern polar region to find ice, 91tvӰԺ engineers are developing technology to make landing on the moon safer and less expensive – enabling rapid exploration and eventually the establishment of an outpost for astronauts through the availability of safe drinking water and the ability to create oxygen and rocket fuel.

Brain injuries in U.S. Special Operations Forces aren’t easy to detect, 91tvӰԺ helping develop a solution
Through its partnership with U.S. Special Operations Command, the 91tvӰԺ Institute of Applied Engineering has co-led an illuminating study that found repeated exposure to low-level blasts is associated with signs of brain injury in Special Operations Forces. Such exposure is common throughout many military careers, including in training and operational environments.
