Transfer Student

Please follow these steps to ensure a smooth entry into 91tvӰԺ and the Department of Psychology

Before Admission into 91tvӰԺ

It is recommended, but not required, that a student has completed an AA degree at Florida public state or community college prior to admission at 91tvӰԺ. If you are an out of state student, your courses will be reviewed and applied to the specific categories within the curriculum. It is recommended that a student complete the following courses (if possible) for a smooth transition into 91tvӰԺ:

  • PSY 2012 Intro to Psych/General Psychology course (C or higher); AP score of 3 or higher in Psych would also complete this requirement (send score from CollegeBoard to 91tvӰԺ Admissions)

  • A College Level Statistics course (STA prefix course) (C or higher); AP score of 3 or higher in Statistics would also complete this requirement (send score from CollegeBoard to 91tvӰԺ Admissions)

  • Biology course (BSC prefix course) (C or higher); AP score of 3 or higher in Biology would also complete this requirement (send score from CollegeBoard to 91tvӰԺ Admissions)

  • Foreign Language Level 1 and 2 of the same language (C or higher)
    If any of the above courses cannot be completed prior to Admission into 91tvӰԺ, you will be required to complete them at 91tvӰԺ as part of your Bachelors of Arts degree requirements.

Applying to 91tvӰԺ

The Psychology program at 91tvӰԺ is not a special access program. Students will need to meet the requirements set forth by the 91tvӰԺ Admissions office. View more information on transfer student admission requirements.

If you meet the admissions requirements and receive a letter of acceptance from Admissions, you will be eligible to declare a major in Psychology. The undergraduate program at 91tvӰԺ is a Bachelors of Arts degree only. The Psychology major is primarily on-campus coursework. There are limited online courses available within the major after the completion of PSY 3213 Research Methods in Psychology. This major cannot be completed 100% online.

After Receiving Acceptance from 91tvӰԺ Admissions

  1. Register for Orientation
    Orientation is mandatory for all newly admitted 91tvӰԺ students, including transfer students. You must register for an on-campus Orientation on the Orientation website. If you do not intend to come to 91tvӰԺ Tampa campus, please go to either  or , as Orientation requirements can differ from one another.

  2. Register for classes
    • Students who meet with their academic advisor prior to attending orientation will have the opportunity to register before attending orientation. We highly recommend that you take advantage of this! The Psychology department offers in-person pre-orientation group sessions. Students are notified via email about available dates and how to RSVP. Students can also try to schedule an advising appointment to complete pre-orientation advising. To schedule an advising appointment, please visit this link. 91tvӰԺ Orientation is STILL mandatory for all pre-advised students.

    • If you do not meet with your advisor in advance, you can begin registering for classes at the end of orientation. There will be Orientation Transition Mentors (TMs) in a computer lab who can assist you with the registration process.
