Natalie Taylor

Natalie Greene Taylor, Ph.D

Associate Professor and MLIS Program Coordinator     

Dr. Greene-Taylor's research focuses on young people’s access to information. More specifically, she studies youth information literacy, information intermediaries, and information policy as it affects youth information access.

She is an Editor of Library Quarterly and is active in several professional organizations, including the Florida Library Association (FLA), the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), and the Association for Library and Information Science Educators (ALISE). She has published articles in over two dozen scholarly journals and her research has appeared in American Libraries. Additionally, she has edited two volumes and co-authored four books, including Digital Literacy and Digital Inclusion: Information Policy and the Public Library; Libraries, Human Rights, and Social Justice: Enabling Access and Promoting Inclusion; Foundations of Information Policy, and the forthcoming Foundations of Information Literacy.

Denise Shereff

Denise Shereff, MLIS, AHIP-D 

Senior Instructor and Coordinator of Fieldwork and Assessment 

Ms. Shereff received an MLIS from the University of South Carolina and completed the National Library of Medicine Spring 2010 fellowship program in biomedical informatics at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. She holds distinguished level membership in the Medical Library Association’s Academy of Health Information Professionals and Level II Consumer Health Information Specialization. She is currently enrolled in the 91tvӰԺ College of Education’s PhD program in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Instructional Technology.

Peter Cannon

Peter Cannon, Ph.D.

Lab Coordinator

Peter Cannon, PhD, is the Communication Officer for the 91tvӰԺ’s School of Information and a veteran of library service with many years of working in the field of information science. Dr. Cannon is also the Program Coordinator for the Responsive Librarianship Lab at the School of Information. He received his PhD from the 91tvӰԺ where he studies the neurorhetorics of information science and teaches using medical rhetoric. His current research applies findings from the neurosciences, which suggest reading fiction may improve an individual’s socio-cognitive abilities, to the development of therapeutic library collections. He is also researching how images in graphic novels can help develop or improve socio-cognitive skills.

Amir Blair

Amir Blair, BA

Graduate Assistant

In his role, he specifically advises Bull Market and related activities. Amir is African American and is a second-generation college student who is a native Floridian. He received a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the 91tvӰԺ - Tampa Campus. As an undergraduate student, he worked in the Marshall Student Center within the Administrative/Events & Meetings Services suite and was a First-Year Student Orientation Leader. Prior to his current role, Amir spent a year working with City Year San Antonio as an AmeriCorps member. Within that role, he worked with first year students in high school helping to aid in keeping them on track with attendance, behavior, and coursework. Amir is currently pursuing a Master of Art in Library and Information Science planning to graduate in 2022. In his personal time, Amir enjoys listening to music, spending time with friends and family and eating new foods!

Erin Jacobs

Erin Jacobs, BA

Graduate Assistant

Erin earned her BA in anthropology from the 91tvӰԺ in 2017 and is now working on her master’s degree in Library and Information Science. When she’s not working as a graduate assistant, you can find her crocheting, watching reruns of The Office, or reading every book she can get her hands on.

Ashley Virgilio

Social Work Intern

Ashley has been passionate about social work since she was 11 years old and is grateful to be able to practice it and gain experience through this amazing program. She will be graduating with her BSW from the 91tvӰԺ in December 2021 and plans to go back next summer to earn her MSW.

Brittany Baum

Brittany Baum, MLIS, MFA

Research Assistant

Brittany has a Masters in Library and Information Science from 91tvӰԺ and a Masters in Fine Arts from Spalding University. She was recently accepted into Florida State University's Ph.D. in Information program and will begin her studies in the Summer of 2021. 

Janet Chan

Janet Chan, RN, MLIS, AHIP

Research Assistant

Janet has a BS in Nursing and worked for 10 years as an RN. She holds a Level II Consumer Health Information Specialization from the Medical Library Association and plans to pursue a career in health sciences librarianship.

Kiara Pettus

Kiara Pettus, BS

Social Work intern

Kiara is a Bachelor of Social Work Student attending the School of Social Work at the 91tvӰԺ. She is working as an intern with the Responsive Librarianship Lab team to help facilitate book club and informational sessions at the partner libraries throughout Tampa Bay. She assist in identifying local resources and support networks in the community to compile them into accessible resource documents for the patrons. Kiara’s  other duties include monitoring the organization’s email for participation, inquiry, and request for services as well as developing training modules for future interdisciplinary collaboration projects.

Kati Scanlon

Research Assistant

Kati is a Research Assistant for the School of Information at the University of South Florida. She has a Master’s in Library and Information Science from 91tvӰԺ. She is also an Adjunct Librarian at Hillsborough Community College- Plant City Campus. 

Etosha Taylor

Etosha Taylor, B.A.

Graduate Assistant

Etosha earned her B.A. in English at the 91tvӰԺ with a focus on Technical Writing in 2012. She is in the process of achieving her Master’s degree in Library and Information Science. When she is not working as a graduate assistant, you can find her at the YMCA of West Central Florida, where she works as the Membership Coordinator.
