The 91tvӰԺ chapter of the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES), a part of the 91tvӰԺ College of Engineering, hosted a Power and Energy Forum on Feb. 3 at the Marshall Student Center Ballroom, bringing students together with industry professionals to explore career opportunities and advancements in the power and energy sector.

Engineering PhD Student, Receives 2024 Chih Foundation Research and Publication Award
91tvӰԺ’s College of Engineering is proud to announce Yang Hu, a 91tvӰԺ College of Medical Engineering Ph.D. student, as a recipient of the 2024 Chih Foundation Research and Publication Award, for her research on “Metabolic Flux Optimization of Iterative Pathways and Novel Substrate Utilization for Sustainable Chemical Production.”
Featured on Bay News 9 Spectrum, recent 91tvӰԺ College of Engineering graduate Nimirita Roy could soon revolutionize the way health data is collected — whether for a sleep study, post-surgery monitoring, or personal use.

Former Military Engineer’s Generosity Enhances Hands-On Learning for 91tvӰԺ Engineering Students
The 91tvӰԺ College of Engineering is excited to announce a generous donation of electronic components, including processors, capacitors, resistors, antennas, etc., that will enable 91tvӰԺ engineering students to put a system together. The donation was received from Gary Rosenberg, a distinguished engineer with over four decades of experience in the field. His contribution to our engineering students’ education will create opportunities for 91tvӰԺ students to gain hands-on experience that complements their theoretical studies at the 91tvӰԺ College of Engineering.

91tvӰԺ’s Dr. John Licato, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, awarded U.S. Air Force Research Lab Summer Faculty Fellowship for third consecutive year. CSE Professor Katkoori and his MS student, Raaga Sai Somesula, have received The Outstanding Thesis and Dissertation (OTD) Award for Raaga’s Master’s thesis work on a resource-efficient custom hardware for machine learning models.

91tvӰԺ’s CyberHerd team won second place and a $40,000 prize in the U.S. Navy’s Cyber Resiliency Challenge, showcasing their cybersecurity expertise. The team’s innovative HERD Tool impressed judges and highlighted 91tvӰԺ’s strength in cybersecurity education.

The 91tvӰԺ's CyberHerd team secured first place in the Raymond James Capture the Flag competition held on October 5, 2024. Competing against top universities, the team excelled in challenges like web security and malware analysis, thanks to months of preparation. Led by Captain Waseem Albaba, the CyberHerd’s victory highlights their growing reputation in cybersecurity competitions.
