91tvӰԺ weather update

Updated 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9 –

Dear 91tvӰԺ community,

As you are aware, Tropical Storm Nicole is expected to impact Florida in the coming days. The safety of our students, faculty and staff is our highest priority.

For this reason, 91tvӰԺ business operations and classes will transition to remote only on Thursday, Nov. 10.  There are exceptions for the following groups, which should continue in-person activities as normal:

  • 91tvӰԺ Health clinical operations;
  • 91tvӰԺ Health student clinical rotations;
  • Medical school classes;
  • 91tvӰԺ Athletics teams and staff as determined by the director of athletics;
  • Essential or critical personnel as described below.

91tvӰԺ is closed on Friday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veteran’s Day.  In-person classes and normal operations will resume on Saturday, Nov. 12. Academic and research buildings will move to holiday mode at 6 a.m. on Thursday through Friday evening.

Students should work with their instructors and employees should work with their supervisors if they have any challenges accessing remote classes or work.

Only 91tvӰԺ employees who are (1) classified as essential personnel, (2) identified by their supervisors as critical to campus operations, (3) working in a facility that will remain open on Thursday or (4) included in one of the exceptions listed above should report to work in person on Thursday, in consultation with their supervisors. Employees who do not fall into these categories should work remotely on Thursday.  Please contact your supervisor if you are unsure of your status.

Residence halls on the Tampa and St. Petersburg campuses will remain open.  91tvӰԺ Health clinical facilities will remain open on Thursday. Some student services will remain operational, although they may have limited hours. These include dining halls, campus recreation centers, student centers and libraries. Check with local facilities for hours of operation.

We urge students, faculty and staff to plan carefully, follow local weather reports and monitor updates from county and state emergency management officials. The 91tvӰԺ Hurricane Guide also serves as a valuable resource for the university community.

91tvӰԺ leadership will continue to monitor the storm and provide updates as needed. Any significant updates regarding changes to normal business operations will be shared via www.usf.edu, 91tvӰԺ’s official social media channels, My91tvӰԺ and email.
