About Us

Sarasota-Manatee Student Health Services

Current 91tvӰԺ students can conveniently access medical care at the Sarasota-Manatee campus. 91tvӰԺ Student Health Services (SHS) strives to deliver high-quality healthcare and education to 91tvӰԺ students and offer a variety of medical services. We combine a wide range of medical, counseling, prevention, and wellness services to help students remain healthy and succeed academically from initial diagnosis and treatment to follow-up care. All services are subsidized by your tuition, allowing us to offer general medical consultations, prescriptions, and quality specialty services at student rates that are deeply discounted compared to community providers and clinics. We can bill private insurance, or services can be paid by debit/credit card or put on your OASIS account. With OASIS, students can be seen when they need us, but pay later. SHS understands that students may have limited financial resources and will make every effort to keep additional charges minimal.

AFTER-HOURS CARE

Please be aware that we are not available after hours. If you or someone you know has a medical emergency after hours, please contact the campus police or 911 immediately.

For non-urgent or non-emergency symptoms, you may call the Nurse Advice Line at 813-974-2331.

The Nurse Advice Line is available to registered students at the University of South Florida campuses, or those who have voluntarily paid the current Health Fee because they are taking a semester off. With the Nurse Advice Line, a nurse can answer your health-related questions and help you to decide if you should seek immediate medical care at an Urgent Care or Emergency Room facility, or wait to be seen at the Student Health clinic when it opens. The nurses can assist you with basic self-health care tips. The after-hours advice nurse is not located at Student Health, so they cannot access your medical record at the time of the call.

There is no charge for talking to the after-hours nurse. If you choose to seek medical care outside of Student Health Services, remember that you are responsible for the cost of that care. Your paid tuition does not cover emergency or urgent care services not treated at the Student Health Services clinic. If you have medical insurance coverage, check with your insurance company before seeking care to understand what it will cost.

BEYOND STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES

Should your needs fall outside of our scope of services, such as dermatology, nutrition, or orthopedic needs, we may recommend seeing a specialist. Many times, specialty services can be accessed through video consultations with the Tampa campus or appropriate community referral for further treatment.
