Why is Experiential Learning important?

Experiential learning extends your academic experience beyond the classroom and major requirements, allowing you to apply and refine your knowledge in real-world settings such as internships, study abroad, or community action projects. These hands-on experiences not only deepen classroom learning but also make you a more competitive candidate for graduate programs and job opportunities after graduation.

To graduate with Honors distinction, all Honors students must complete two Experiential Learning requirements. Students will complete a total of two activities, selected from two different categories:

  • Career & Leadership Experience
  • Community Service
  • Creative & Artistic Experience
  • Global Experience
  • Research

Attending the EL Expo is a great way to explore your options and connect with people who will enrich your educational journey in the Honors College!
